Narrow boat life. Starting with choosing the boat, selling the house, moving onboard and moving the boat.

It gets worse before it gets better!
All we are trying to do is put a new 'old dutch' heater in! Before you know it, the whole place looks like its been ransacked. I will be so glad when everything is back to normal. At least we managed to save the carpet and only had to replace the underlay. Though I think that at a future date, we may invest in a nice wood floor, but carpet is fine until we get the bank balance back on track.
At a junction in our lives, we decided to step back but not opt out. Moving from the 'normal' day to day grind, mortgage and other millstones round our necks - to a new life and new venture. After the first few days, reality hits and questions are raised. Day to day life brings new challenges but definately no doubts.
New to Narrowboats - and so far so good!! But could be better!
Having reached the half way mark in life and the children have fled the nest, we found that lifes needs and wants and changed. We dramatically downsized to live on a nb. Hopefully this is a story of how we manage to adapt for a very comfortable middle-class (expensive)lifestyle to that of a pair of homeless river gypies.
